CALGARY — An 11-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after being hit by a light rail train car.

Calgary police say the boy was walking in a marked crosswalk at Banff Trail Station when the CTrain entered the station.

The pedestrian barriers weren't down, and the train struck the boy.

Police say the boy's injuries aren't believed to be life threatening, but he was taken to hospital for treatment.

They also say the driver of the train was arrested.

Calgary Transit says trains resumed running at the station after it was closed for a little more than an hour.
