Norman Foote brings a must see line-up of legendary performers to the Brackendale Art Gallery on Nov.19th.
鈥淚t鈥檚 gospel, blues, and laughter, what鈥檚 not to like,鈥� says Foote.
鈥淎nd it鈥檚 at the Brackendale Art Gallery, where else?鈥� Foote said he usually does a show a year at the BAG, but this year鈥檚 show, he explained, is an especially stellar line-up.
鈥淚 host it, and do my funny shtick, although it will be a little different than usual. We have 小蓝视频 Entertainment Hall of Famers, Bill Sample and Marcus Mosely performing, along with Darlene Ketchum.鈥�
Foote says Bill Sample is considered one of Vancouver鈥檚 (and beyond) greatest performers, who is also an accomplished composer.
鈥淏ill [Samples] was the musical director for David Foster for years, and he鈥檚 played with many, many different artists. We鈥檝e toured together, we played in New York, Nashville, he鈥檚 just way beyond, a phenomenal musician. But we haven鈥檛 played together in a long time. But when I approached him to do this show, he signed up right away, which was great to see.鈥�
The others (Darlene Ketchum and Marcus Mosely) play together a lot though. And we all just did a show at the Roundhouse in Vancouver, back in July. So I thought it would be great to bring it to Squamish.鈥�
It will mark the first time Mosely plays at the BAG.
鈥淵ou鈥檒l find Marcus is one of Vancouver鈥檚 greatest treasures. He鈥檚 an amazing, powerful singer, plus he鈥檚 an incredible individual, he鈥檚 really the feature performer. He鈥檚 a singer, but also a storyteller and a passionate songwriter,鈥� said Foote. He added that Mostly has a new CD out called Labour of Love.
Basically, this is an incredible group of musicians, with me thrown into the mix, it鈥檚 an interesting听 combination,鈥� said Foote with a laugh.
When asked what first-timer Mosely鈥檚 reaction to the rustic venue that is the BAG might be, Foote replies, 鈥淚 think he鈥檒l love the place. [Thor and Dorte] put a lot of love out, can鈥檛 say enough, about them.
It鈥檚 always a treat to play at the BAG. There are a lot of stories in those walls. It鈥檚 a legendary venue, so many artists have started there.听 And it still brings artists here. When you look at the music community, there鈥檚 something about that place that people love, its a gem of a venue. When I was fifteen or sixteen, Thor was just building the BAG, I met him, and from then on, it was my dream was to play there growing up. So now I鈥檓 thrilled to come back, with this group.
To have them come up here a big thing.鈥�
