Kathy Daniels and the Between Shifts Theatre Society are once again looking for a place to store their sets, costumes and equipment.

Once again, Squamish’s Between Shifts Theatre Society is desperately seeking storage space.

The not-for-profit theatre company will have to leave its location in Westcoast Outbuildings on Government Road by May 31.

This is the company’s second location after being asked to leave its previous СƵ Rail yards location in November.

“So only six weeks to find a new home,” said the society’s artistic managing director Kathy Daniels, on Monday.

The society signed a six-month lease with Westcoast Outbuildings, which is expiring at the end of May.

The Chief spoke with the head of the company, who emphasized that Between Shifts is not being evicted and that they simply have to leave because their tenancy is over.

“Hopefully, we can find more permanent digs as the last move cost us $700 in trucking and moving,” Daniels added.

The group needs 2,000 square feet to store and build its sets and props. They also need the location to be dry, secure and have access to power.

Daniels noted the society is a clean and tidy tenant. Currently, it is paying $210 month in rent, she said.

“Which we realize is a great deal, but is all we can afford. Reminding everyone, we are a non-profit society and all volunteers,” she said.

The society is in its 25th season of putting on several shows a year with a mandate to “bring Squamish and the Sea to Sky Corridor material that was both artistic and challenging, as well as great comedy and entertainment.”
