May marks the start of an online walk for Alzheimer鈥檚

Squamish folks can join the North Shore Walk for Alzheimer鈥檚 online.

Locals hoping to walk for a good cause in the North Shore can find one in the upcoming .

The online celebration encourages people to “walk their own way throughout the month of May.”

The event occurs throughout the entire month of May before ending in an online celebration on Sunday, May 30.

“Even though we are unable to gather physically in person, we can still walk together in spirit,” reads a news release. 

“Together, we can celebrate and remember people in our lives who have been affected by dementia, while raising valuable funds and awareness. Now, more than ever, people affected by dementia need our support.”

Funds raised at the North Shore Walk will support local programs and services and will help enable research into the causes of and the cure for the disease.

This year’s North Shore walk honours Pat Harris, a longtime contributor to the 小蓝视频 Alzheimer’s Society and those living with dementia. 

Harris supported and cared for her husband Tony through his experience with Alzheimer’s until his passing in 2011.

The pair participated annually in the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s and Pat continues to be an active member volunteering for the Alzheimer’s Society of 小蓝视频’s Minds in Motion.
