Despite the risk of skunk smell and garbage odours, locals put on a daring rescue to save a skunk that got its head stuck in a dumpster.
The Conservation Officer Service, Squamish Fire Rescue, Ryan Sharp, with Awesome 'Possum Wildlife Control, and convenience store staff from a business on Garibaldi Way saved the animal, which found itself caught in the drainage hole of the the bin.
鈥淭he skunk鈥檚 head was lubricated and wiggled out of the dumpster,鈥� reads a Facebook post from the District of Squamish. 鈥淭he skunk was then successfully placed into a pet carrier and later released within the area it was found.鈥�
The hole in the dumpster is being sealed by Green For Life staff, the District says.
