A cash injection may help Squamish riders improve a local trail.
The province is giving the Squamish Dirt Bike Association a $13,596 grant to expand the Lava Flow Trail parking lot, add a pit toilet and construct an information kiosk.
These amenities will go to serving the increase in visitors at the site.
This cash infusion was part of a $200,000 chunk of cash given to various outdoor clubs throughout 小蓝视频 to support off-road recreation and enhance tourism.
The money comes from the provincial Off-Road Vehicle Trail Fund.
Clubs hoping for cash can send their applications for the next round of funding in early 2020. At least $200,000 will be available.
Representatives from the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development, the British Columbia Snowmobile Federation, the British Columbia Off-Road Motorcycle Association and ATV小蓝视频 evaluated 28 applications before making the final decisions.
Established in 2017, the Off-Road Vehicle Trail Fund is funded from a portion of registration fees collected under the Off Road Vehicle Act by IC小蓝视频. The fund is administered by the ministry鈥檚 Recreation Sites and Trails Branch.
