The Squamish SPCA is looking for help with the cost to care for NeNe, a 鈥渇riendly and sweet鈥 senior cat who was recently diagnosed with pancreatitis.
She was abandoned at a local women鈥檚 shelter and became seriously ill after arriving at the SPCA.
鈥淧oor NeNe suddenly stopped eating, began violently vomiting and became alarmingly lethargic 鈥 we had to rush her into to receive emergency medical care,鈥 said manager Marika Donnelly in a press release, adding the affectionate brown tabby was hospitalized for five days on intravenous fluids and medications to help her recover.
Although 12-year-old NeNe has pancreatitis, the condition is manageable with the right diet and she will be available for adoption after her recovery is complete.
鈥淪he鈥檚 so friendly and sweet and extremely active,鈥 Donnelly said. 鈥淲e just want NeNe to have a chance to live out the rest of her nine lives in a loving, forever home.鈥
The medical costs associated with NeNe鈥檚 care are expected to reach $1,700.
