We hate to toot our own horn, but 鈥� we're golden.
The Chief took home three journalism awards at the 小蓝视频 & Yukon Community News Media Association (小蓝视频YCNA) awards gala held on April 27 at the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond.
The paper garnered gold in the newspaper excellence category for a paper of its size.
"The highest quality production in the category immediately sets The Chief above the rest," reads the judge's comments. "An excellent paper."

Editor Jennifer Thuncher and photographer David Buzzard also earned gold for the multimedia series, 鈥�Piecing together the 1957 crash,鈥� about the T-33 plane wing found in a ditch on Government Road last summer. The submission included a print, online and video component.
"Captivating from start to finish, this feature has all the elements of a good mystery story," the judges said.

The Chief鈥檚 reporter Steven Chua, former reporter Haley Ritchie and Thuncher also garnered bronze in the multimedia category for the paper鈥檚 2018 municipal election coverage.
"This feature highlights the candidates running for council and presents their platforms in a way that is visual, relatable and easy to digest," said the judges.
小蓝视频YCNA is a non-profit organization that represents 97 newspapers, with a combined readership of almost 2 million in community media throughout British Columbia and the Yukon.
