One of the occupants in a vehicle that went into the Squamish River in the early hours of Saturday morning remains unaccounted for, as does the vehicle.
Squamish RCMP said Monday morning, it is believed the person did not make it out of the vehicle.
Mounties continue to investigate following the single-vehicle crash into the river in the Squamish Valley.
On June 14, 2025, at 2:30 a.m., first responders were called to the site on the Squamish River after the vehicle carrying four people went into the river.
Three people made it out safely, but the fourth did not.
It is not clear how or why the vehicle went off Squamish Valley Road.
RCMP say the investigation into the collision is ongoing, with investigators working to determine the contributing factors surrounding the incident.
Police say local search and rescue volunteers have conducted both aerial and ground searches along the water and shoreline; however, the vehicle and the missing person have not yet been found.
“The river in this area is exceptionally deep and fast-flowing due to spring runoff, making conditions hazardous,” reads an RCMP news release.
Squamish RCMP officers are working with the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team; however, due to current water levels and the unknown location of the vehicle, recovery is not possible at this time, the release states.
Police will continue to monitor conditions and reassess recovery efforts as water levels begin to recede and visibility improves, according to the release.
