SMHA
Squamish鈥檚 Ryder Hansen tangles with a member of the Cloverdale Colts in the third period of juvenile hockey action on Saturday (Feb. 21).

The Squamish Eagles juvenile hockey team鈥檚 season ended with a thud on Saturday, Feb. 21.

Squamish had the opportunity to win the banner in the juvenile season for the first time since 1999-2000, but lost 6-1 to the Cloverdale Colts on home ice.

The teams were scoreless after the first period, but Cloverdale turned it on in the second and grabbed a 3-0 lead. The Colts added another three in the third period before Terry Clark scored the lone goal for Squamish.

The game marked the end of minor hockey for 20-year-old players Brendan Hopkins, Peter Baldwin and Nick Lowe.

In other Squamish Minor Hockey Association (SMHA) news, the next big event on the calendar is the PCAHA final four championships running in Squamish from Feb. 27 to March 3.

The event features the top four teams in Tier 3 Bantam A play and the Squamish Eagles, coached by Joe Webber, will be amongst the four.
