Harwood鈥檚 efforts honoured

Athletic director Joel Harwood wins Kazlaw Community Foundation award

Howe Sound Secondary School (HSSS) athletic director Joel Harwood will get to experience the best trails in 小蓝视频 firsthand thanks to the Kazlaw Community Foundation award.
Harwood, who was named the recipient of the award on March 24, receives a free entry into the 小蓝视频 Bike Race (小蓝视频BR) this summer.
The award is given to someone who helps make mountain biking happen in his or her community, as nominated by others through a letter submission. It鈥檚 the fourth time the award has been handed out and nominees were narrowed to six people on March 4, with voting concluding on March 18.
小蓝视频BR officials revealed an excerpt from Harwood鈥檚 nomination letter that pointed out his efforts in establishing the cycling academy at HSSS and his work involving the Squamish cycling community as reasons he was deserving of the honour.
The 2014 小蓝视频BR goes from June 29 to July 5 and features seven days of the best riding in the province. It kicks off in North Vancouver on day one and blasts through Squamish on July 4. The series concludes in Whistler on July 5.
