High school golf coming to SVGC

AAA championships to hit Squamish next May

Some of the best young golfers in the province are coming to Squamish in 2014.

British Columbia Golf (小蓝视频G) announced its 2014 provincial schedule recently and the Squamish Valley Golf Club (SVGC) is one of the stops.

The SVGC will host the High School AAA championships, May 26 to 28.

The 2013 edition of the event saw 22 teams of five players each battle over three days in Kamloops. Coquitlam`s Gleneagles Secondary won with an overall score of +7 over the tournament. Gleneagles beat out Langford`s Belmont Secondary and Victoria`s Claremont Secondary to secure the crown.

"The 2014 schedule will see our competitive provincial championships travel to various locales across British Columbia," Susan White, 小蓝视频G senior manager of field operations, said in a statement. "We are excited as an organization for the 2014 season as some of 小蓝视频's most talented golfers will beheading to a number of the provinces most popular golfingdestinations."

In addition to the team aspect of the event, there is an individual championship. Last year`s individual title was won by Gleneagles' Jessie Keel, who also captured the top female score with a four under for the tournament.
