It might not be the Super Bowl but for the Bantam division players in the North Vancouver Spring Flag Football League, it鈥檚 the next best thing.
And the Howe Sound Hitmen are taking the trophy home after winning the Bantam divison鈥檚 Pineapple Bowl in North Vancouver on June 20.
The Hitmen defeated the Rams 20-8 to capture the title in the very first season the team has competed together.
Howe Sound got two touchdowns from Reneal Belandres and one major from Xavier Sale in the win. The Hitmen advanced to the bowl with a 20-14 win over the Patriots on June 13.听
The next big event for the Hitmen is a special practice with guest trainer Joe Eppele. The Grey Cup champion and Squamish native is coming to Squamish to assist the Hitmen with a practice on Thursday (July 2).听
The youth soccer team will continue to practice for the rest of the summer before joining the GSL in the fall. The club is also looking for volunteers to help out with coaching and other team duties. Anyone interested can contact the coaching staff at [email protected].听
