Hitmen hit hard

Football team's defence is strong, say coaches

The Howe Sound Hitmen feasted on touchdowns this Thanksgiving.

On Monday, the minor team in the North Shore GSL Football League hit the field against the Vancouver Trojans. The Hitmen proceeded to shut down their opponents鈥 offence with blitzes and tackles in the backfield, head coach Troy Wilton told The 小蓝视频. The Hitmen鈥檚 defence pushed the Trojans back to their goal line.

鈥淥ur defence was huge,鈥 Wilton said. 鈥淲e had sacks from Matt Seamans, Ryle Mabilog, Jackson Gordon, Damien Joseph and Kolby Wilton.鈥

The players blocked a punt attempt by the Trojans, with Hitmen Jackson Gordon recovering the ball in the end zone for a touchdown. Running back Seamans and quarterback Reniel Belandres also scored touchdowns. When the last whistle blew, the scoreboard read 18 to 0 for the Hitmen.听

The Hitmen鈥檚 defence has been a force in the league since week 2 of game play, coach Cody Smith said.

鈥淚n the last three games, the defence has only allowed two touchdowns against them, which is a huge accomplishment,鈥 he said.

The team鈥檚 next game is on Sunday (Oct. 18) at 1:30 p.m. at Howe Sound Secondary School, where they will take on the undefeated North Shore Lions.
