It wasn鈥檛 exactly the result that Squamish鈥檚 Harry Head wanted at the Race the Ranch event in Kamloops on Saturday, April 11 and Sunday, April 12, but it鈥檚 still early in the mountain biking season.
Head, the lone local in the Junior Expert Men division, placed 14th on Sunday after being seeded 17th in Saturday鈥檚 opening race.
He wasn鈥檛 the only local hitting the trails at the first 小蓝视频 Cup downhill race of the season. Squamish鈥檚 Lee Jackson had a strong start to the season, placing fourth in the Elite Men division. Also in the Elite Men was Squamish鈥檚 Braden Onciul, who placed 26th. Squamish鈥檚 Nick Barreau placed 25th in the men鈥檚 open 17 to 29 division.
Squamish鈥檚 Seth Sherlock also had a solid start to the year, placing eighth in the U15 men division.
The only local biker to win his division was Brackendale鈥檚 Don Van Eesteren, who captured first place in the open men鈥檚 30 plus division. He beat out the second place rider by more than six seconds. Brackendale鈥檚 Jacob Murray came close, finishing about 2.5 seconds out of first place in the U17 sport men division. Also competing in that division were Logan Van Eesteren (10th) and Conlan Reis (20th).
Brackendale鈥檚 Jessie McAuley, competing in the U17 Expert Men division, placed 10th.
