Sneddon increases 小蓝视频 Bike Race lead

Second-place Kindree trails leader by 1:49 entering Day 6 of seven-stage event

The leader of the seven-stage 小蓝视频 Bike Race on Thursday (July 4) added 15 seconds to his lead on second-place Neal Kindree of Squamish on Day 5 of the event, from Sechelt to Langdale.

Kris Sneddon, who hails from the Sunshine Coast, held serve during two days of riding on his home turf. After Kindree, the defending 小蓝视频 Bike Race champion, narrowed the gap to just 27 seconds during Day 3 near Powell River on Tuesday (July 2), Sneddon put the pedal to the metal on Days 4 and 5, increasing his lead over Kindree to one minute, 49 seconds.

Barring a major problem for either Sneddon or Kindree, the Epic Solo Men's event appears to be a two-man race, as third-place Spencer Paxson of the United States finished Day 5 17:35 behind Sneddon and fourth-place Erik Skovgaard Knudsen of Denmark was 20:02 behind the leader.

The race which also includes one- and two-person events for women, mixed and masters riders descends on Squamish for Day 6 on Friday (July 5). The 48.02-kilometre leg, which includes portions of the Test of Metal and Gearjammer courses, starts and finishes just south of Brennan Park Recreation Centre.

Last year, Kindree increased his lead over second-place Barry Wicks from five seconds to more than four minutes during the Squamish leg and held on for the victory in spite of a flat tire on the final day.

The seventh and final stage takes place Saturday (July 6) in Whistler. For up-to-date information, please visit www.bcbikerace.com
