The North Shore League (NSL) winless streak is over for the Howe Sound Sounders junior boys basketball team.
Howe Sound traveled to West Vancouver to take on the Rockridge Ravens on Jan. 27 and picked up a 45-27 win.
Head coach Max Roy said it was all about the team鈥檚 defence.
鈥淥ur defence was really good,鈥 he said. 鈥淲e got about five 30-second shot clock violations on them and the boys committed to playing defence for the full 32 minutes. Lasse Pekdag had eight steals last night and he did a great job on anticipating.鈥
Nikki Tehara added 15 points and Roy praised the play of his bench.
鈥淭he bench players came off the bench and played very hard and smart,鈥 he said. 鈥淚 was very proud of Justin Brown, Lasse Blana and Ronnie Nahanee giving us some much needed depth. When they can give us those much needed minutes we can go 11 players deep.鈥
Next up for the Sounders is a trip to Gibsons to participate in a tournament at Elphinstone Secondary School on Feb. 6 and 7.
